New media types can be intimidating for Creative Teams. When a brief came in that required self-production of Tik Tok videos, I transformed the slow embrace of self-production to enthusiasm for another round.
The team was reluctant to accept and hesitated to move forward with this new internal production mindset.
My role was to immediately own and provide the enthusiastic spark for the rest of the team to feed off and implement best practices for both Tik Tok videos and COVID video shoots.
Armed with two funny scripts, casting, location scouting, props, and technology for a remote video shoot were all on the project task list. The talent needed to be funny, the location needed to be big enough to feel like a home and have different settings. The props and wardrobe needed to fill in any spaces to create new scenes in the same location.
On shoot day, our Art Director took over as Director. As the producer, I became the Camera man, key grip, and Line Producer. With the footage gathered, the video went to post-production to add titles, the soundtrack, and approvals. By providing a positive and can-do mindset, this project went from one the team didn’t want to take on to one where the team couldn’t wait to create more Tik Tok posts.
